Home Sweet Home

I am sitting at the kitchen table, smoking a cigarette and listening to a space mix made by Greg. Nikki is on the couch with Akira the dog. Nikki is on her computer and Akira is nuzzling up against her. Brock is at work and Lenny, Fred, and Meggie are coming over. I graduated last weekend. It was a fun, busy, and exciting time overall. I moved this past weekend out of my old apartment. Most of my stuff lies in wait in my dad's basement until I move to Bloomington in August. The rest of my stuff is neatly put away in the spare bedroom at 2223 N Hoyne where I shall be residing for the remainder of the summer. I feel so free now that I have graduated. The pressures and stresses of school are behind me (until grad school in a year). For now it's just working at Lego and enjoying this new thing called free time. I work Sunday thru Thursday which is great. I've not had time off on weekends in a long, long time. Nikki and I went to Target and the grocery today. It was a fun if not exhausting shopping excursion. Nothing feels better than new linens and a full pantry and fridge. I feel like a new person. I know that sounds cliche as hell, but I kinda do. If not new, certainly unencumbered. I'm glad I just have to work for a while. I'm looking forward to relaxation and to having time to write and do my own projects. I think I'm AD-ing a film this summer and Lenny and I are co-directing another stop-motion. Hopefully Lenny, Brock, Nikki, and I can do that nifty photo book over the summer too. That would be nice. Sitting in the living room with Nikki and Akira, getting ready for dinner makes me feel at home. It's a nice feeling and one I have not felt in some time.
p.s. It's awesome that Becky is working at Lego with me now!
