I decided to make my first real post about hope...
Tonight, I, like so many of my fellow citizens, watched Barack Obama accept the Democratic Party's nomination for his candidacy for the presidency of the United States of America. Words cannot fully describe what his speech stirred inside of me. I was already an ardent Obama supporter, but I had misgivings about his chances. However, after watching him speak, hearing him address the nation with a powerful and REAL and tangible message for change... After seeing the passion and determination that he possesses and stirs in others... After seeing the beauty of 70,000 Americans chanting "yes we can" and "enough is enough"... After seeing the always gabbing news anchors and pundits left speechless and forced to throw caution and objectivity to the wind because they were left mystified and inspired by one man's audacity to challenge America to live up to it's true potential... I now believe that my country just may end up proving itself to be the nation of people that I always dreamed that it could be. Go out and vote. Vote for change. Vote for our future. Vote for HOPE and always believe in the power of our determination and resolve when we Americans put our hearts and minds to something. In 1962, John F. Kennedy challenged Americans to reach for the moon, he set the boundaries for a New Frontier. Just seven years after he gave that speech, we put two men on the moon on July 20, 1969. If America could accomplish a feat that had been said to be impossible for thousands of years, in only seven, imagine what we can accomplish in just four years, here, now, in the 21st Century. Can we reach new heights of progress and press the boundaries of the New Frontier even further? Can we inspire and set an example for the world again? Can we unite and overcome our fears? Can we change?
YES WE CAN!
